How to remove CND Shellac

How to remove CND Shellac

Are you one of those who think CND Shellac is fantastic? There are many who think so, and rightly so. Shellac is fantastic, but like many other gel polishes, it sticks really well and can be difficult to remove—especially if you don't have the right tools and soaks. Read on here and find out how to most easily remove CND Shellac.

What is CND Shellac:

CND Shellac was the first on the market to create a blend of the great qualities you know from gel, mixed together with all the benefits you know from nail polish. CND Shellac is a gel polish that is applied by a professional nail technician. The treatment is applied like regular nail polish and must cure under UV or LED light to harden. Once the gel polish is cured, you're done and can use your hands immediately without worrying about scratches or dents in the polish. CND Shellac is smart! If you want to do gel polish at home, Le Mini Macaron is a great option.

When you have had your Shellac on for more than 14 days, it's time to remove it. Now the regrowth is getting too large and you want to remove your Shellac as gently as possible. CND Shellac is unique in that you don't need to use a nail file first to break the surface of the shellac. Your nail technician can easily remove the Shellac again, but you can also do it yourself and save money.

What do I need to remove my Shellac?

The easy solution:

  1. CND Shellac Remover Kit - Contains everything you need.

The cheap solution:

  1. Foil Wraps (1 pack contains 10 wraps) or Nail Wipes and aluminum foil
  2. Offly Fast Remover 59 ml
  3. Cuticle stick

The economical solution (for those who are regular users of CND Shellac):

  1. Pack of 250 Foil Wraps
  2. Offly Fast Remover 222 ml
  3. Cuticle stick
  4. Optional Solaroil 15 ml.

Step by step:

  1. Saturate the Foil Wrap with CND Offly Fast and place the wrap with the soaked cotton against the nail. It's important that the wrap lies flat on the nail and covers the entire nail – don't forget the tip. The wrap should fit tightly so the liquid can work. If you use nail wipes, place the wipe on the nail and then wrap the tip of your finger tightly in aluminum foil.
  2. Let your Foil Wraps sit for 8-10 minutes. If your Shellac has been on for more than 14 days, let the wrap sit a little longer.
  3. When the time is up, press your thumb down on the nail and massage from side to side, then pull off the Foil Wrap. If there is still some shellac left on the nail, put the wrap back on the nail and wait a few more minutes.
  4. Remove any remaining residue with a cuticle stick.

Care is important!

Removing CND Shellac is tough on your nails and cuticles. Unfortunately, the remover also removes important oils and moisture, so your nails and cuticles will lack moisture when you are done removing your Shellac. Therefore, it's a really good idea to be extra generous with your nail oil afterwards. Using nail oil ensures that the moisture balance is not altered. If the moisture balance changes, your nails will break and split.

I recommend and personally use CND Solaroil, as it quickly absorbs into the nail and doesn't leave your hands greasy.

TIP:

If you are right-handed – start by putting Foil Wraps on your left hand. If you are left-handed? Then it's the opposite, but you probably figured that out.
