Manicure Step By Step

Manicure Step By Step

Here is a recommendation from me for a manicure that is worthy of a goddess, but at a price everyone can afford. If you want baby-soft hands, you should follow this guide. It's a good idea to be a little extra kind to your hands. After all, they are used for so many things and have to go through quite a lot.

How to Get Soft, Well-Groomed Hands

Our hands are exposed to harsh treatment on a daily basis. Cleaning agents, water, soap, wear and tear, etc., all take a toll on our hands. The skin on our hands reacts to this treatment, resulting in thickening and calluses. This is a defense reaction that you can't do much about unless you stop the strain – but that's usually not possible.

However, you can thank your hands. Thank them by giving them good treatment from time to time. This is called a manicure, and a treatment can cost anywhere from 300-600 kroner at a professional nail technician.

You can also do something yourself. Follow this simple guide and give your hands a treatment worthy of a goddess.

Guide to a Divine Manicure – at Home!

Start with a Gentle Hand Bath

Callused skin needs to be removed. A big mistake many people make is filing away at the hard skin. It's hard work, and you risk doing more harm than good, as you might remove too much skin. If this happens, your skin will counteract by kickstarting the production of new skin cells.
Therefore, you should soak your hands in a lovely warm hand bath. A hand bath is not just a hand bath. When you have your hands in warm water, the skin relaxes and the pores open. Soak your hands in warm water for 5 minutes. Once they have softened, you can move on to the next step – now you should dry your hands and start removing dead skin cells.

Now It's Time for a Scrub

With a scrub, you can now peel away the dead skin. If you've previously treated your hands with cream and found that the cream doesn't absorb or the results are lacking, it could be due to dead skin cells. The hard, and often dead, skin acts as a shield against your hand cream. Hand creams also come in varying qualities, some better than others at penetrating the skin. Regardless of the cream's quality, the result is significantly diminished if the hard skin isn't treated and removed, as it's only the dead skin that receives nourishment – nourishment that dead skin can't use.

So you need to get started with a scrub.

I recommend the 2-step "Pro Skin" system from CND, which includes a lovely hand scrub, an Exfoliating Activator, and a finishing hand cream.

Start with Step 1 – Exfoliating Scrub

  • Massage a teaspoon into your hands and forearms. You can also choose to continue all the way up to the elbow – it also benefits greatly from the scrub. Massage with slow, circular motions until the crystals are evenly distributed and continue exfoliating for 3-5 minutes.
  • Leave the scrub on the skin and immediately follow with STEP 2: Exfoliating Activator.

Continue with Step 2 – Exfoliating Activator.

  • Now the crystals need to be dissolved, which you do by massaging a teaspoon into your hands and forearms. If you've included the elbow, the activator should go all the way up to the elbow as well. Step 2 activates the small crystals and dissolves them into an ultra-moisturizing cream serum. An absolutely fantastic experience, if you ask me.
  • If you want to treat yourself extra well (Of course you do), wrap your hands and arms in plastic wrap/Vitawrap and a terry towel and let the serum absorb into the skin. Sit with the wrap for 5-10 minutes.
  • Massage any remaining product residue into the skin.

It's usually not necessary to wash your hands afterward.

Now for Moisture!

Now your hands need moisture. Moisture is not just cream. A hand cream is preferable because they are designed to quickly absorb into the skin, nails, and cuticles. I recommend Hydrating Lotion from Pro Skin CND. After the above 3 steps, your hands will now absorb more lotion than you thought possible.

That was a relaxing manicure guide that has now guaranteed you very soft hands. You can also take advantage of this moment to take care of your nails, as your cuticles are now super easy to work with.

Enjoy!
