The ultimate removal guide for Molly Lac

The ultimate removal guide for Molly Lac

You’ve applied your Molly Lac manicure and now you want to change the color – Of course you do! There are too many gorgeous colors to keep the same one on for too long. Follow the guide and get the beautiful result you desire.

You will need the following:

Now we are ready to remove Molly Lac Gelpolish

If you are working alone/on yourself, I always recommend that you do one hand at a time. It takes longer, but it is easier to wrap your foil packs correctly when you only do one hand. If you have someone who can assist you with the other hand, that is preferable.

Break the topcoat with a coarse file:

  • File off all the topcoat on your gel nails. Shiny topcoat is designed so that the surface is extremely resistant. It needs to be to maintain the shiny surface for a long time – but this also means that when we need to remove it again, it can be a bit tough to deal with. Matte topcoats are more porous on the surface, which is what gives the matte effect, but they still need to be filed down.
  • You can advantageously file down into the colored gel – this shortens the removal time in the next step.

Soak off:

  • Moisten your cotton pad or wipe with Offly Fast or acetone. Offly Fast is gentler than acetone, but acetone is cheaper.
  • Wrap the nail with the moistened pad. Remember to wrap it around the free edge as well.
  • Continue wrapping the next nail.

Removal:

Now we work on one finger at a time. Many make the mistake of removing all the wraps at once – do one finger at a time, otherwise the products will have hardened again.

  • Remove the wrap from the one that has been on the longest.
  • Take your orange stick or gel remover tool and gently scrape the surface. You will find that the surface is loose and the product can be easily scraped off and wiped away onto a wipe/paper towel. Scrape until all the loose product is removed.
  • Now re-moisten your cotton pad so it is wet and wrap the nail again.
  • Move on to the next finger. Repeat the process above. Repeat on all nails until all product is loosened.
  • Finish with a good nail oil, provided you are not applying product again immediately. If you are, then wait with the nail oil until you are completely finished with the new set.

Good to know

Once you have mastered the process, it will take you about 15 minutes to remove your Gelpolish from Molly Lac. I recommend the Gel Removal Tool over the orange stick, but you should work with a light hand, as metal tools should be used with care on the nails.
