Zig Zag Tape, Step by step

Zig Zag Tape, Step by step

This design is made by "What's Up Nails", which is one of many manufacturers of great stamping equipment. This design is easy to do and does not require a lot of equipment.
  • Apply a layer of base coat.
  • Apply a white nail polish as a base color, as other colors become more prominent on white. Of course, you can mix and match to achieve a completely different look.
  • Apply 1 layer of Quick Dry topcoat to prevent the tape from lifting your base color.
  • When the topcoat is dry, place 2 pieces of Zig Zag tape across the nail. Pro-tip: Use a silicone tool to press the tape down firmly. If it is not firmly attached all the way, the polish will "bleed" under the tape.
  • Paint with purple nail polish on one side of the tape and blue nail polish on the other side. You should only apply 1 layer of nail polish, so make sure the layer is as opaque as you want on the first try.
  • In the middle of the 2 pieces of Zig Zag tape, paint with the black nail polish.
  • Remove the tape immediately after you finish painting to prevent the nail polish from drying. This is easiest with a tweezer.
  • Clean up the cuticles where the polish may have run, using a brush and some nail polish remover.
  • Now apply a layer of your preferred durable topcoat to protect your design.
  • Always finish with nail oil and a hand cream.

Note: Similar products have been found to those originally used, so the colors of the design may vary slightly.
